Keep Pacific Avenue Safe

Victory! The creator of this petition declared the campaign a success. You can still sign the petition to show support.

There is a proposal before the Manhattan Beach City Council by the South Bay Bicycle Coalition and Cycling Club who are aggressively pushing to install bike sharrows along Pacific Avenue. Many of the neighbors living on Pacific Avenue are firmly against this measure. In order to oppose this ill-designed initiative we have formed the Keep Pacific Avenue Safe Committee.

Why is this important?

**PUBLIC MEETING NOV. 12TH**

Sharrows were originally intended to keep bikes from riding on sidewalks (which Pacific does not have) and to keep bike riders from being “doored" (not an issue). There are serious safety issues: topgraphy where drivers can't see cars much less bikes, steep hills, blind intersections, sections that aren't wide enough for sharrows, no sidewalks and a street full of driveways.
