Keep Solar Rebates!
Massachusetts may eliminate solar rebates and instead subsidize Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs). SRECs are questionable since they are a license to dump carbon. One person with solar photovoltaic (PV) calls SRECs “indulgences” and refuses to sell them.
To end solar rebates would badly hurt Solarize Mass. If you want to achieve 1,600 megawatts of installed solar PV in Mass. by 2020, please don’t end solar rebates and don’t subsidize SRECs.

Why is this important?
If solar rebates are ended in Massachusetts, it could badly hurt Solarize Mass, which is a group incentive program to encourage businesses and homeowners to install solar photovoltaic systems. The solar rebate now provides homeowners up to $2,000 (sometimes more) for new installations.
I'm chair of the Plainfield (MA) Energy Committee and ending solar rebates would negatively impact our efforts to promote solar energy.
