KENTUCKY CEMETERY LEGISLATION

My name is Bill Dudley, and I am writing to you today, asking for your help in authoring and supporting a bill for the state of Kentucky that requires cemeteries and those in the "death industry" to abide by common sense rules and regulations for doing business in our state.

Why is this important?

Kentucky citizens and consumers should be allowed the expectation that their loved ones will be treated with the same dignity and respect in death as they are in life. Kentucky State Law should provide regulated protection in upholding the sanctity of the handling and disposition of human remains and the preservation of final resting places. Ky law should require and ensure that ALL deceased be accorded equal treatment and respect for human dignity without reference to ethnic origins, cultural backgrounds, or religious affiliations.
The cemetery industry and operations in Kentucky, should be declared to affect the public health, safety, and well-being of its citizens and to be subject to regulation and control in the public interest. The FTC monitors and regulates funeral homes, but cemetery legislation is nearly "non-existent"
