Legislation must be created to inform the consumers of the presence of GMO ingredients in processed food in order for them to make an informed decision on whether or not the products align with their wishes of whether or not to consume GMOs. Further, allowing GMOs to be concealed by neglecting labeling removes the freedom of choice to buy products not produced with GMOs.
Why is this important?
Connecticut has started the ball rolling with their own GMO labeling legislation. Consumers have the right to know what is in their food, and the food processing industry has taken over our legislature with their lobbyists which have no interest in public safety or welfare. Now is the time to act to bring consumers out of the dark concerning their food supply.
