Legalize cannabis to fund Pennsylvania prison budget

Pennsylvania is spending oodles of money on prisons, about half a billion over budget. Yikes! Cannabis usage will provide sustained taxable revenue that will outlast the baby boomers. Pensioners are going to bankrupt this state. You need an emergent market, something ahead of the curve to make maximum growth and sustainability, something that can be modeled upon existing laws and can be applied to situations with common precedent. Think of it as a Mad Lib. The sentence "Jim likes to go home from work, loosen his tie, kick off his shoes in the study, enjoy [ intoxicant], and read a good book, or eat a sandwich.

Look at cannabis as the PC market of the 80s. This is a unique bubble market moment that will outlast the bubble.

The investment is a wise one. In the long run, a population using cannabis is a happier, more manageable group of people. It costs less to govern them. Cheaper government is what we need. Spin your moral compass and see if it lands on Good Sense. If not, get a new one. Everyone else has. Prohibition actually didn't work for over 7,000 years, so think of this as a traditional approach with mild and lucrative application. Do it. Legalize cannabis. There are no recorded deaths from it. If you are looking for drug problems, look at opiates.

Why is this important?

The half billion in expenses Pennsylvania owes is mostly to pensioners. Legalization of cannabis will offset this cost and provide sustained revenue beyond the retirement of the Baby Boomers. It will reduce crime, reduce overall health expenses, and stimulate community development, especially in rural areas.
