Legalize Marijuana in Kentucky

With Colorado as a shining example of what can be accomplished by a state willing to buck the system and legalize marijuana, I petition our governor, Steve Beshear, to consider doing the same for Kentucky. Not only has Colorado generated huge revenues for the taxpayers of the state, it has also lowered the overall crime rate, and lowered the number of people abusing prescription drugs. It's way past the time when science has proven the medicinal benefits of marijuana. The legalization of marijuana in Kentucky would bring tourism, jobs, and a huge hemp industry for farmers. Many tobacco farms are struggling, as are other types of crop farms. Hemp has so many uses that it would be an enormous boost for the farming community. It's a renewable source of energy, as well. Please consider legalizing marijuana in the state of Kentucky.

Why is this important?

Kentucky led the United States in the installation of the Affordable Care Act. Our governor, Steve Beshear, has been highly instrumental in implementing this program here. Imagine what Governor Beshear could do with the legalization of marijuana. I have health care now, for the first time in many years. With the legalization of marijuana, I could also afford to treat two chronic medical conditions that have plagued me for years. I have no desire to take narcotics, even if I could afford them, and narcotics are dangerously addictive. Marijuana has been proven to help people like me. Thank you.
