All you have to do is look at the numbers, and you can see the War on Drugs has been a major failure. In states like Colorado, legalizing, taxing, and regulating sales and use of medical and recreational marijuana has already proven to be a massive success economically and in the manner of crime reduction. It's time to adopt the same thinking nationwide, one state at a time. Legalize the recreational use and sale of marijuana and watch the state of Texas flourish.
Why is this important?
As has been seen with places like Colorado, legalizing the sale and use medical and recreational marijuana in Texas would not only bring much needed money into the state's economy (especially in the way of easing financial burden on state-run correctional facilities and giving more financial assistance for schools statewide), but will dramatically reduce the crime rate when it comes to nonviolent drug offenses involving not only local residents, but with Mexican cartels as well.
