The people have spoken. We want the federal government to legalize/decriminalize marijuana. Several states have done this, but citizens are still being arrested, prosecuted, and imprisoned for possession and/or use. People are losing or may lose their jobs, even if it is legal in their state. I would like to see legislation similar to alcohol and tobacco, which states age requirements, where and how it can be sold/purchased, tax structure, and so on. If we can trust adults to be responsible with alcohol, we can certainly do the same with marijuana, and include educational initiatives similar to alcohol and tobacco.
Why is this important?
Several states have legalized or decriminalize marijuana, but it's still considered illegal by the federal government. This means people can still be arrested or fired for possession and/or use. It's time to change this law at the federal level so more states can decide if they want to do the same and citizens can be protected by the state laws concerning it.
