Less oil import, more jobs, less pollution.

Electric Vehicles get the equivalent of 125 mpg. This is 1/5th the amount of oil a gas car uses. This would mean that we could import 80% less oil! The average car today gets 27 mpg.
Electric cars are 98% efficient, gas cars are 15% efficient. If we had say 20 % of our cars Electric Vehicles by 2024, surely easily possible? That would be about 20 million vehicles. And it would mean a HUGE reduction in the oil we would be buying from abroad. We could use this money to employ Americans to build the new electric plants we would need to run the electric cars. If they were oil plants we would need only one fifth of the oil to run the Electric Vehicles as opposed to Gas vehicles. Less foreign oil, more American jobs, less pollution, cleaner air and water, healthier kids. What's not to like?
Or we could use new coal plants which would mean importing even less oil from abroad and employing more Americans to dig the coal and build and run the power plants.
Another advantage would be American jobs to further develop and improve Electric Vehicles adding lighter materials and lighter more efficient batteries for example for longer ranges, and quicker charges. And solar paint on cars to charge the battery while you drive - even less oil use!

Why is this important?

Develop and promote Electric Vehicles.
