District of Columbia residents have been deprived of their rights as citizens for too long. The only way we can truly gain these rights is to be granted statehood.
Why is this important?
A lot of the residents from the District of Columbia are tired of being treated as second-class citizens. Congress has the power to redefine the district's borders and shrink its size as they did before in 1846. This action will give the 646,000 residents of the State of New Columbia the full rights of citizenship that they have been denied for over two centuries.
