To: President Donald Trump, The Florida State House, The Florida State Senate, and Governor Ron DeSantis
Let's Make Voting Rights a Priority
As a direct result of the actions of Governor Rick Scott, Florida voters were disenfranchised during the November 6, 2012 election. In order to cast our votes, we had to stand in long lines, in the heat of the day or during inclement weather, and then vote on an eight page ballot. In reducing the number of early voting days and in inadequate preparation by elections officials, Governor Scott created this situation.
"Let's stop voter suppression and make voter's rights a priority!"
"Let's stop voter suppression and make voter's rights a priority!"
Why is this important?
The abysmal performance of the elections officials of the State of Florida during the November 6, 2012 election is an issue that needs to be fixed.
I am a Florida voter who was effectively disenfranchised by Governor Rick Scott and the Florida Legislature during the election . The voter ID laws will go into effect for subsequent elections and will further serve to suppress the vote.
Governor Scott has the ability to repeal these laws and to correct the voter suppression rulings he made during the November 6, 2012 election.
We're calling on him to do right by the Florida electorate.
