Require gun buyers to pass a psychiatric evaluation in addition to a background check.
Why is this important?
Background checks alone are not sufficient when it comes to screening gun buyers. Many who perform mass shootings have no criminal record, or history of violent behavior. We must not allow those with undiagnosed mental illness to slip through the cracks and gain access to lethal weapons. The safety of innocent people in public places should trump the ever expanding and gravely misinterpreted "right to bear arms".
