Require liability insurance (at a amount equal to average cost of a gun shot wound) for all weapon ownership as a requirement for licensing of weapons. A higher liability requirement should be placed on all automatic assault weapons.
Why is this important?
A GSW's average cost is reported to be as high as $1,000,000. A gun owner cannot guarantee that his or her gun will not cause a accidental injury or be used in a crime. Therefore it seems that requiring liability insurance for these weapons is a reasonable expectation for responsible gun ownership. A higher liability requirement could be put on assault weapons.
