Lie in Office: Go to Jail
Any holder of elected public office in the United States, or any seeker of public office, who lies in any way, about anything having to do with the duties or functions of that office, or makes any misstatement of fact in order to gain that office, shall be punished by a mandatory prison sentence of not less than ten years in Federal Prison and a fine of not less than one million dollars.
Why is this important?
It is a given in our political system that politicians are liars. Why is that? We are facing critical problems, unprecedented problems, and yet our office holders and office seekers routinely lie in order to promote the agendas of people who seek, mainly, personal profit at the cost of the nation. We are at a point where lying politicians can literally destroy the future of our country, and indeed the world. I'm calling for mandatory jail time for office seekers and office holders who make any misstatement of fact, of any kind, in a campaign or in office. Lying should be illegal. Lying in public office is treason.
