Limits to the numbers of years employers can search into background for employment purposes.

Citizens convicted of felony offenses often have a difficult time starting over in society. This is due to the fact that employers refuse to consider often to hire. I realize in certain cases that background checks are federal laws and are needed in some cases. The problems is many ex-offenders are disqualified for offenses that occurred 10-20 even years ago. The judicial system is supposedly based on rehabilitation but some felons who make a mistake a two are treated like second class citizens. There should be limitation on how far back employers can delve into a applicants past. I am propose that no employers can assess any criminal information within the past seven years.

Why is this important?

Many ex-offenders have been personally affected by this issue. Many are so frustrated trying to obtain work that they become repeat offenders due to the fact that employers will not hire them. Government agencies should also offer incentives or tax breaks by employing ex-offenders and background checks into criminal histories should be limited to seven years. Even ex-offenders deserve the opportunity to become active productive member's of society. And at the end of the day and starving man is going to eat. Lets him them do it the honest way and not fall back into the same trap.
