Companies should have to unlock cell phones once they are paid for. I can understand while they are being paid for via a contract, but then the phone which is owned by the customer should not be held hostage.
Why is this important?
I paid for a smart phone via a 2 year plan with Verizon and continued with plan another year. No they won't unlock my phone so I can go elsewhere with it. I paid for it.
