To: The Supreme Court of the United States, Chief Justice John Roberts

Make a Decision Already

The time has come for the Supreme Court of the United States to stop ducking its Constitutional and legal duty to render a decision on the question of marriage equality. Having declined at its September 29th meeting to take up one of the seven cases then before it, yet now creating chaos with issuing stays and then changing them, the Court is creating hardship for real people with real lives trying to make decisions, in addition to wasting government resources with unnecessary court cases and causing confusion at all levels of government.

Why is this important?

Because the lack of a decision has created a great divide in this country. Same sex marriages are recognized by some states and in some instances and not in others. This is creating a real burden on gay families and government agencies that must deal with the problems created. The time has come for a uniform, national rule.
