Only Democrats and Republicans in New York are permitted to vote in primaries. Since over one third of registered voters in New York are registered as no official party, (NOP); the primaries held in September of an election year, do not allow all voters an opportunity cast their ballots.
Why is this important?
I have lived in New York all my life. I have been registered as NOP since my first election. I have always thought that New York, a progressive, liberal state, had the wrong position on this issue.
