Make North Carolina Frack-Free

Please keep North Carolina frack-free by urging the NC General Assembly to repeal Senate Bill 820. Because the shale formation pierces the aquifer, our drinking water will be contaminated with cancer-causing chemicals. The damage is irreversible.

Why is this important?

Please sign to urge the NC General Assembly to repeal Senate Bill 820 - the Clean Energy and Economic Security Act.

If ever there was a bill with a categorically fallacious name, this is it. It will provide neither clean energy nor economic security. First, water contamination WILL occur because the shale field actually pierces the aquifer. Drinking water will be laced with carcinogens.

Second, because the shale deposits in Chatham, Lee and Moore counties contain natural gas reserves of less than five years, as estimated by the NC State geologist, the alleged economic boom will usher in a bust within five years. Moreover, fewer than 400 jobs per year will be provided, and most of these will be filled with wildcatters from other fracking states.

Fracking is a 24-7 nightmare. There is non-stop noise; entire roads are destroyed; entire communities are disrupted.

Please repeal Senate Bill 820. Keep NC frack-free.
