We, the citizens of DeKalb County, petition that the County acquire the 14 acre Sky Haven property from the DeKalb County School System for designation as a public park, and we request that the property be protected in perpetuity (forever) under conservation easement as legacy greenspace.
Why is this important?
Sky Haven is an empty, 14 acre property owned by the DeKalb County Public School System. The property is located in the East Atlanta neighborhood and provides high value tree canopy, a headwater stream, and needed neighborhood greenspace that supports abundant wildlife and critical stormwater management.
The property is not officially a public park, nor is it protected greenspace. It could be sold or destroyed at any time.
