Mandatory ID checks with Credit Card Usages
This petition request is to get the government to create a policy to consistently check credit cards against a person's identity to prevent credit card fraud and identity theft. In a time where ID theft is sky rocketing, it appears easy in different parts of the country where a person can walk in to a business, use anyone's credit cards and get away with it.
I ask Members of Congress to consider a law to support this measure. I ask all of the petitioners to consider this. I realize it might be an inconvenience to some, but wouldn't you rather know that if your cards are lost or stolen (before you call them in) that NO ONE can use them because they are not you. In the possible law, those businesses who do not check for ID during a point of sale transaction, will be also held accountable.

Why is this important?
During my travels across the country, I use my credit card as a safe way to manage my money. On the back of my card for the signature, I have printed "See ID". I also attempt to show my ID and businesses never look or they tell me, "we don't check IDs". I ask, "so...if I come in and I happen to have your credit card and use it, it is okay because you all don't check?"
In an time when identity theft is on the rise, one simple thing a business can do is check identification against the credit card.
There should be a law in place across the country, consistently enforced.
