The following is a list of concerns of the Richmond South Shore residents regarding the future development and expansion of the Richmond Field Station:
Within the project limits of the large Lawrence Berkeley National Lab/Richmond Bay campus expansion are some unique and important native prairie grasslands. These prairie grasslands are scientifically and ecologically valuable, and are the original natural heritage of the Richmond shoreline. These prairie grasslands should be conserved in whole, and in parts, by building only on heavily degraded areas. It should be kept intact as a significant, connected native coastal prairie preserve, and retained as the landscape for the project.
In addition, the residents of the south shore want to preserve the marshlands and the wildlife. After years of industrial abuse, the marshlands and the wildlife presently flourish in the south shoreline area. We do not want new roads to be built along the marshlands that would negatively affect the wildlife and impact the marshland environment.
The residents are also concerned about noise pollution and light pollution. We want the project to take into consideration the affects of increased noise and lighting in our neighborhood. We want to preserve the peaceful atmosphere of our area as much as possible.
We, the residents of the Richmond south shoreline, want to preserve our prairie grass, our wildflowers, our marshlands, our wildlife, and our peace of mind. We want the expansion/conversion from the Richmond Field Station to the second campus of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory to resolve the above points in the Draft Environmental Impact Report and in development plans.

Why is this important?
The residents of the Richmond South Shore are concerned about preserving the natural resources in our area. We want the proposed development and expansion of the U.C. Berkeley Campus/Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory to integrate our concerns into their plan for the development of the Richmond Bay Campus (Richmond Field Station).
