Mayor Vincent Gray: Don't sacrifice Brahms and Beyonce!

Studies show schools with music education produce students with higher achievement scores in math and language arts. Yet budgetary mismanagement has forced many D.C. schools to shutter their music departments and let their inspiring teachers go.

Unless D.C. residents who care about music in schools raise their voices, more of our programs are in danger of disappearing.

If you believe music education is important, Girls Rock!DC says stand up and sing it out loud! On April 15, we plan to storm City Hall with the signatures of 50,000 D.C. residents who say Mayor Vincent Gray shouldn't manage his school budget math at the expense of music education. Sign here to add your voice!

Still revved up to do more? All musicians need a few coins in their instrument cases, so click here to donate to the Washington Music Fund, a public-private fund that provides music resources to area public schools. All donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law, and 100% of your contribution goes to purchasing musical instruments and sheet music for D.C. public schools.

Your support will help D.C. students stand up and rock out! Don't forget to sign the petition here, and donate to bring music into classrooms here.

Why is this important?

D.C. can't rock without music education in public schools.
Tell Mayor Vincent Gray to stop cutting music program funding in our city schools.
