We wish MCPS would adopt Lunar New Year (a widely-accepted holiday in East Asian culture) as one of its official holidays.
Why is this important?
As an international student with an East Asian background first enrolled in MCPS in 2011, I acknowledge that the Jewish New Year is one of the official holidays in the school district; however, Lunar New Year, one of the most significant holidays appreciated by East Asian cultures, is not. I understand MCPS has a growing Asian population and I wish this petition could persuade MCPS to adopt Lunar New Year as one of its official holidays.
