Means test tax deductability of political contributions.

No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) have never been fully funded. Public School Classrooms are the first line of defense in identification and remediation of mental illness. The first step to get people treatment for mental illness is to fully fund NCLB and IDEA. Means testing the deductions of political contributions to not for profit political action groups, informational groups, and candidates could provide a revenue stream for funding these underfunded acts of congress. This could be the foundation for a better educated, more compassionate , and less violent America.

Why is this important?

I am a public school teacher. I attempt to get children of poor families mental health services on a frequent basis. It is almost impossible due to the lack of services available in the community. The support for students with mental illness inside of schools has been cut due to the neglect of congress to fully fund IDEA and NCLB. As a nation and a community we need to confront this injustice. A different way to stop a mentally ill bad guy is to get him the help he needs before he does something horrible. This starts with funding the frontline of public education. With limited funds, why should the public subsidize the political contributions of the 1%?
