Why is this important?
On June 29 Library Director Mary Faith Chmiel (white) attempted to stop members of National United Council black students from meeting in the study area.
The Director followed youth around and stating that our group was in violation of Library policy. The Mayor said our group was not in violation but the Library director continued to harass with security guards and white staff.
This same Director has a history of attempting to stop black groups from having access to Library facilities.
