Medicaid Expansion in Virginia
Practical Reasons: Expanding Medicaid for 191,000 poor and disabled Virginians will help create 30,000 new jobs and save Virginia taxpayers billions of dollars per year.
Loving Christian Reasons: Jobs and budget savings are important and practical reasons to expand Medicaid, but the health care that will go to people not presently served is far more than that.
Health care saves lives and manages disabilities. Could you stand next to a living human being with a serious illness or wound and tell them your political views prevent you from getting them help? Imagine walking away as the person begged you to help. That is exactly what you do when you prevent people from getting health care, only you don't have to look them in the eye or hear their cries.
Think about it. Is that what Jesus would do? Would he refuse his love and care to the suffering? Would you?

Why is this important?
This petition is an attempt to make clear the consequences of refusing to allow Medicaid to be extended to 191,000 individuals in Virginia who have no health care coverage.
