medicaid reform

It's time for a change in who can receive medicaid and who cannot. There are millions of single people in the country that do not have families and aren't disabled but have been turned down by their state's health insurance programs. Medicaid will only allow a single woman to get help if she is pregnant or disabled. I don't even think the state of Indiana really offers health insurance to single people. I'm one of millions that can't afford insurance because they don't have a job and have been looking for a job for more than a year. I went back to school in hopes that I would be able to get a job after graduation. Without the proper licensing I can't get a job in my field and I can't get the license without money. I have medical problems that I can't get taken care of because I don't have insurance and I don't have the money to pay the doctors up front. There aren't any free health clinics in the county I live in and i don't have the money to go to another county and pay whatever the cost is. One public aid office wants all patients to have tests run at a local hospital before they can diagnose the patient and those tests will cost thousands of dollars that many people don't have if they are out of work.

Why is this important?

In favor. I can't get any type of medical assistance. I can't afford insurance and have been rejected for medicaid because I'm neither pregnant or disabled. I have medical issues that I need taken care of and can't afford to do so since I have been unemployed for almost two years.
