Medical marijuana for all professions while off duty.

The Department of Transportation does not allow commercial operators to use medical marijuana at any time, despite the advice of a medical professional to do so. In order to legally operate a Commercial Vehicle, drivers are required to possess a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate. The DOT trusts doctors to decide whether or not a person is fit for duty, but not what medicine they can use. It should be noted that most other controlled substances (vicodin, oxycontin, etc) are allowed (again, off duty), though marijuana is not.

Why is this important?

The Department of Transportation are not medical proffessionals, and should not have the right to arbitraily allow drivers, pilots and engineers to use one Doctor-prescribed controlled substance while disallowing another.
