Michigan's MLR Waiver

"Please DENY Michigan's request to wait three years to require insurance companies to spend at least 80 cents on the premium dollar for ACTUAL MEDICAL CARE (as required by the Affordable Care Act starting this year). Michigan consumers deserve the $53 million in rebates in their pockets, not in the pockets of Insurance companies!"

Why is this important?

Because of the new protections in the Affordable Care Act, starting this year insurance companies are suppose to either spend 80% of all premium dollars on actual medical care, or give back to consumers what they don't spend. Michigan's Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation (OFIR) submitted a waiver request so that Michigan insurance companies would NOT have to comply for the nest three years.
