Money should be raised to erect monuments to those killed by the police at the current astonishing rate (nationwide) of about ninety per day! I suggest a design competition followed by a drive to raise the funds to erect monuments in Washington, DC and Ferguson, MO. These will be a permanent memorial to those killed previously and in the future so that they cannot be easily forgotten.
Why is this important?
I have been collecting data for those killed in southern California in preparation for the national march to stop police terror and murder in NYC on Oct. 22-24. The brief summaries submitted by the police are heart-rending (and collected by The Guardian US). Something must be done so that these murders are not forgotten as the inexorable news cycle moves on to the next atrocity.
