National Day of Commemoration for Rosa Parks

The United States federal government should commemorate Rosa Parks' brave act of refusing to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama, with a national day of observance on December 1, 2015, which is the 60th anniversary of her historic act that launched the civil rights movement to end segregation and Jim Crow in the United States.

Why is this important?

It is time for a national day commemorating the accomplishments of Rosa Parks in the United States of America. Rosa Parks sparked the Montgomery, Alabama bus boycott on December 1, 1955 when she refused to give up her seat on the bus. Rosa Parks embodies the values of non-violent, peaceful protest and individualism that are synonymous with what it means to be a leader in the United States of America. It is time to celebrate this great American's service to her country with a national day of commemoration on the 60th anniversary of her refusing to give up her seat on that bus in Montgomery, Alabama.
