National Gun Violence Prevention Week
Mr. President, The great tragedy that took the lives of 27 US citizens at Sandy Hook Elementary school has caused a groundswell of support to create annual National Gun Violence Prevention Week. The Presidential proclamation shall annually proclaim the week that the 14th day of December falls upon as a national week of gun violence awareness where US citizens remember those who have been killed or injured due to gun violence and create ways to prevent gun violence in the future.
Why is this important?
This petition is intended to have President Obama proclaim the first national week of awareness for the prevention of gun violence in the United States of America. We the petitioners are profoundly affected by the devastating loss of innocent lives due to gun violence in the US and request the President of the United States take both executive and symbolic measures to reduce and eliminate gun violence in this great nation.
