Nationwide "NO SMOKING" Policy at Hospitals, Clinics, and other Medical Related Facilities

This petition is in regards to developing a non-smoking policy at healthcare related facilities. The policy would general states that there is to be NO SMOKING upon hospital grounds, at clinics, dental offices, or any facility where its principle function as a business or entity is to aide in or promote positive health. While in different states, some medical facilities have this policy in house, they are not able to enforce it. If there was a national law, more support would behind this, for the better health of citizens.

In a time where we, as a country are looking for ways to be more healthy, it sends a poor message when a person has to visit their doctor, dentist, or has to go to the ER and am bombarded by cigarette, cigar, or pipe smoke. It also sends the wrong message from the medical facilities that questions, "Do we really care about your health?"

I urge petitioners to please sign this and get our governmental representatives to take a look at doing something. Health insurance cost are already on the rise. Second hand smoke is known to be dangerous. If the law can ban smoking in public buildings, I think that it would make sense to have this ban on hospital grounds, doctor"s offices, and the like where people go to get better and to maintain better health. Please join me.

Why is this important?

This petition is to ask that people who smoke should not be able to do so on the grounds of medical related facilities, such as hospitals, clinics, or any other related. These are environments in supporting of positive health. It is difficult to me, as a non smoker, when I have to ask a smoker to move away from in front of the ER doors of a hospital due to cigarette smoking.
