Neighborhood Slow Zone - Spruce Hill Traffic Calming

We are seeking community support to evaluate the feasibility of a Neighborhood Slow Zone in Spruce Hill. This is a partnership with the Philadelphia Office of Transportation, Infrastructure, and Sustainability (OTIS) to implement traffic calming measures in unsafe areas of our community. If accepted, this traffic calming initiative could result in some of the following:

• Posted speed limits of 20MPH;
• Corner clearances within 20’ of some crosswalks, preventing people from parking here;
• Speed cushions and other tools to manage driver speeds.

You can find more details at https://slow-zone-phl.hub.arcgis.com.

Why is this important?

We are working to maintain the safety of pedestrians, bicyclists, and others throughout Spruce Hill. According to a Vision Zero annual report from 2021, Philadelphia has a higher number of pedestrian fatalities per resident than other comparable US cities. The City initiative aims to reduce that number.
