We join with Ed Koch's non-partisan New York Uprising in calling on you to stop stalling on drawing fair legislative districts, as you have promised to do starting in 2020. Tell the committee that you want them to complete the process of Fair Redistricting with lines that follow sensible, meaningful borders of existing municipalities and school districts, in time to ensure that candidates have time to file for elections in this cycle.
Why is this important?
Legislative districts determine who represents us and the boundaries of the districts. A bi-partisan committee of New York State’s legislators are currently holding hearings on the redistricting that occurs every 10 years following the census results. They have passed a resolution for sensible districts but it won't go into effect until after 2020! Now they are trying to "run out the clock" for this process in an effort to protect incumbents.
