No human being is illegal

We call upon all responsible journalists and media to stop using the derogatory term, "illegal" because no human being us illegal. Loaded words like illegal serve as a roadblock to meaningful discussion of a serious human rights issue. Journalists have a responsibility to present the news objectively. To serve the public good, this requires the use of language that is not prejudicial. Do what is right, not what is expedient. Make it your business not to use the word "illegal" in the context of the immigration debate.
