To: Mitt Romney, Governor Mitt Romney, and President Donald Trump

No lies, only honesty in the 2012 election of president

Let's have an honest campaign. To that end, we call on President Obama and Governor Romney to promptly agree to review of ALL their campaign ads and speeches/remarks by a panel of independent fact checkers -- e.g., one nominated to the panel by each campaign with a third (and panel chair) selected by the two campaign nominees.
The candidates agree to have the fact checking panel vet speeches, releases to the media and ads of the candidates for the Presidency and the Vice-Presidency and of their respective campaigns. Any assertions that did not receive unanimous agreement for accuracy by the fact checker panel would be removed or revised to be accurate (accepted by the fact-checking panel as such). For ads and speeches/remarks of the candidates for the Presidency and Vice-Presidency that it was not possible to vet, e.g., remarks at a debate, answers to media/voter questions at a town hall, the candidates agree to promptly provide recordings and/or transcripts of such material to the fact checker panel and to promptly correct any assertions whose accuracy the panel did not unanimously accept as accurate with exposure of the correction equivalent to that of that with the inaccurate content (the fact checker panel to determine whether this criteria was met).
The campaigns will equally support the fact checker panel and its work.

Why is this important?

The 2012 campaigns for the Presidency has been seriously marred by a number of serious lies by the candidates and their campaigns. The American people deserve an honest campaign. This petition calls on the candidates to agree to an honest campaign by supporting and complying with the decisions of a fact checker panel about the ads and remarks of the respective candidates for the Presidency, the Vice-Presidency and their campaigns.
