No Taxation Without Representation

No Taxation Without Representation.
If a child is legally allowed to work and pays taxes on his income. They should be legally allowed to vote and have a say in how those taxes are spent. Lower the minimum voting age to the same age as the minimum working age.

Why is this important?

Currently the legal age to work is 14 years old, and many youth begin working around 16 years old. They pay taxes on their income and yet they are still unable to vote for policies which affect their lives and livelihoods. This goes against some of the basic principles which inspired the forging of our great nation. It's time to fix the voting age so that anyone who is paying taxes has a say in how they are spent through the democratic process.

This will also have the added benefit of increasing the level of interest youth take in our elections and the democratic process and therefore hopefully increase the number of people who take part in each election. Studies show that those who start voting young are much more likely to continue to vote their entire lives. This can only benefit our nation. It's time that everyone that pays taxes had a say in how our taxes are spent.
