We the People pay the salaries of the US Senate, whose duties are spelled out in the Constitution. If the Senate fails to act in a timely manner upon the President's Supreme Court nominee, they are not fulfilling their duties and should not be paid.
Why is this important?
Because there is no other job in the world where you can refuse to perform the required duties and still be paid. Why then should the Senate receive their salary for doing nothing?
