Noah's Bagel's "No Tip Jars" Policy is Despicable

Mr. O'Neill,

We have been very disturbed by recent visits to Noah's New York Bagels. The food is fine, and the service quite good. As is standard for many customers of establishments such as yours, we allot an extra dollar or so for our purchases, to tip the staff.

We have been surprised when staff explain that tip jars, or any tips whatsoever, are not allowed: per corporate policy.

The words to describe the kind of person who made this decision are all unprintable. It is pathetic that a leader in your industry may need this explained: Tips make up a significant portion of the incomes of food-service workers. Yes, we all know that tips are not mandatory, but the brutal fact of life as a low-wage worker in 21st century United States is that every dollar, every quarter counts.

Perhaps you were unaware of this policy. We'd like to imagine so.
In any case, the solution to this outrage is simple: rescind this policy, publicly, with a memo to all staff apologizing for the mistake.

Awaiting your reply,

Why is this important?

Tips make up a significant portion of the incomes of workers in counter-style restaurant/cafes. But Noah's Bagel's has a corporate policy against any tips or tip jars at all.

Of course, this decision was made by the worst kind of human beings: highly paid managers who have never really thought about what it would mean to live on the incomes their retail workers make. Let's let them know what we think of this, and give them a wave of horrible, embarrassing press that will make Noah's change this contemptible policy.
