North Carolinans for Safe Access
Governor Pat McCrory of North Carolina has signed two bills into law recently concerning the legalization within the state of cannabis oils. However these are empty gestures and while they say the oil is now legal it is still illegal to grow the plant, manufacture the oils, or to import it from elsewhere. I see these laws as being a slap in the face to the people who generally could benefit from cannabis. We the People beg North Carolina to join the 21st century and legalize cannabis, if not completely within the state than just for the people who could benefit from it medically. Our last bill was killed by one special interest group North Carolinians for moral values. How can you have moral values if you're denying sick children returning veterans and cancer patients medicines that could save their life
Why is this important?
North Carolina could benefit so much from legalization of cannabis... we have the 8th, 3rd, and 1st poorest cities in all of America according to the last few years of census data. Unemployment is ridiculously high in the state. Legalizing cannabis would create thousands of jobs and hundreds of millions in revenue, and most importantly, save or greatly improve lives. Even if you're against complete legalization so that anybody could use it (like alcohol which has been proven in countless studies to be significantly more damaging than marijuana) at least allow people who have genuine medical conditions who could benefit from it to have access to it. At least give North Carolina hope for a better tomorrow.
