At least 30% of combat veterans have post-traumatic stress disorder. Veterans comprise only 7% of the general population, but 20% of suicides in our nation. Active duty military and veterans who experienced combat and later died by suicide should be awarded the Purple Heart medal. Not all combat wounds are visible.
Why is this important?
I have family members and friends who have combat related post-traumatic stress disorder. I have other friends whose family members died by suicide after experiencing combat.
