To: Sonny Perdue, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture and President Donald Trump

Feces, hair and toenails in pork? No thanks, President Trump!

Food safety is important for all of us! Don't let President Trump and meat industry lobbyists get away with the Modernization of Swine Slaughter Inspection Rule (MSSI). It would prevent food inspectors from adequately inspecting food; injure plant workers; and lead to inhumane treatment of animals!

Why is this important?

Under MSSI, inspectors would be required to monitor 83 pounds of pork per second and 1,300 hogs per hour.

The Food Integrity Campaign represents whistleblowers in the food sector. Four federal meat inspectors came to us and submitted startling affidavits regarding the government’s high-speed slaughter pork pilot inspection program.

One whistleblower said, "On numerous occasions I witnessed [company inspectors] fail to spot abscesses, lesions, fecal matter, and other defects that would render an animal unsafe or unwholesome."

We are petitioning Donald Trump and the USDA to stop a new dangerous pork inspection rule that would expand the pilot program nationally.
