Obama: Do not follow the Clintons' Path, Reject Wall Street Speaker Fees
President Obama's decision to accept $400,000 to speak to Wall Street Firm Cantor Fitzgerald undermines his credibility. Our former president will remain a highly influential figure and champion of progressive change, but his voice for campaign finance reform, ending Citizens United, and grassroots organizing will be greatly diminished if he follows the Clintons' path.
Why is this important?
The Obamas can, and judging by their recent book deals will, earn lots of money. They need not do it by accepting speaker fees from Wall Street firms. Obama should cancel his September speech and not accept the $400,000 fee from Cantor Fitzgerald.
