Obama: Save the Arctic from Shell Oil
President Obama,
We call on you to rescind the permit issued to Shell Oil to drill in the Chukchi Sea, until Shell's spill containment vessel has been certified by the Coast Guard. The endangered marine mammals and Polar bears cannot survive another BP spill in the fragile Arctic environment.

Why is this important?
On August 31, the Obama administration, over the opposition of environmental organizations, granted Shell Oil a permit to drill for oil beneath the frozen Chukchi Sea. A leak or spill in this part of the Arctic Ocean could kill thousands of marine mammals and Polar bears, yet Shell's planned oil containment ship has notified even been certified by the Coast Guard. We're calling on President Obama to revoke Shell's permit until scientific study can insure that a leak or spill can be contained and cleaned up before it kills endangered and protected Arctic species.
