Ban-the-Box will not increase employment of the formerly incarcerated (FI) persons. It will not prevent potential employers from running background checks, which will then disqualify the FI. The FI have a right to expunge their prior records once their time-served is completed. Otherwise, in reality, each FI has a lifetime sentence.
Why is this important?
Expunge FI criminal records once time served to eliminate what is as it stands now, a lifetime conviction and lifetime sentence from procuring and engaging in employment, housing, aid and re-entrance back into society.
