One Bill, One Subject

Require that each bill submitted for consideration in Congress contain only one subject and that the subject must be named in the title. This would prevent the attachment of amendments that have nothing to do with the original bill, and would provide transparency for the citizens of the United States.

Why is this important?

Important legislation is often added onto bills as a "rider" or amendment and therefore it becomes invisible to public scrutiny or committee review. In order to create transparency in government and to prevent "pork barrel politics" each piece of legislation must be introduced as a single subject and assigned a unique number that can be tracked by anyone who is interested.
