One person, one vote

It's time to get rid of the Electoral College. It's undemocratic because it violates the principle of one person, one vote, and makes it possible to elect a president who has lost the popular election.

Why is this important?

The Electoral College violates the principle of one person, one vote and should be eliminated. It was put into the Constitution as a compromise between electing a president by a vote of Congress or by a vote of citizens. It gives voters of more populated states a smaller say in an election than voters in smaller states. Thus a president can be elected even if he or she loses the popular vote, as happened in 2000 (Bush vs. Gore). This is clearly undemocratic and should be ended.
