Open Access to School Board Meetings SB134 & HB127

Open access to School Board Meetings in the "Sunshine" State.
Senate Bill 134 and House Bill 127 will direct school boards in Florida to hold school board meeting each quarter at a time when students, parents and employees can attend.

Please support SB134 & HB127

Why is this important?

Currently school boards are able to decide when to hold their meetings, even if the meetings are held at time when the population most impacted by their decisions is not able to participate. High School students participating in a Democracy in Action Initiative crafted a idea that school boards in the state should be required to hold meetings at a time when students, parents and employees can attend, after school hours. Senator Jeremy Ring and Representative Richard Stark recognizing that the students were on to something agreed to propose the legislation in the State Legislature.
